How many times have you heard that? Or better yet, how many times have you said it? “When life slows down, I’ll start exercising.” Or, “When life slows down, I’ll eat better.” My favorite is, “When life slows down, I’ll finally relax.” Well, let me tell ya, with two teenagers, four dogs (one who’s still technically a puppy at 19 months old, and will be until he’s at least 3!), and a husband who travels frequently for work, life is NEVER going to slow down. Throw in all my activities and crazy schedule, and you get one harried mama. My mom frequently tells me I take on too much. I should cut back on some things. The thing is, I’m not doing anything that I don’t absolutely love! I LOVE providing respite care for special needs kids. They, along with my boys, are my heart. I love teaching sign language to kids, and the benefits to their parents and educators. ASL is a passion I’ve had for 20 years. I love my Pampered Chef family and everything involved with that. And I’m really finding I love writing this blog. It’s a creative outlet for me that I enjoy and quite frankly, I need. I struggle to find time to exercise and get healthy meals on the table, probably just like every other mom out there. I tried yoga to help me relax. It stressed me out. I finally realized I enjoy active forms of exercise, like Zumba or karate much better. I’m learning to make time for myself, even if it’s just a walk with a friend or time to sit and read a book. I’ve come to the conclusion that not every meal has to be home made or even super healthy. The world will not end if dinner is corn dogs and not on the table until 7:30 at night. I strive for balance and try to go with the flow. Sometimes, for this gal who often tells people “I can be flexible with notice” it’s not always easy. But even with my crazy busy life, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Even if it never does slow down.
