Let’s get real here, the last time I jumped rope was probably in 2nd grade on the playground at my elementary school. So, I was pretty intrigued to get to do a review on a book called Ultimate Jump Rope Workouts by Brett Stewart and Jason Warner.

I am always looking for cross training opportunities to include with my running, which is why I have added triathlons to my race calendar this year, but have never really considered jumping rope. This book has totally changed my mind though! At one point, they talk about how jumping rope is more like sprinting than jogging, meaning you can play with the intensity and timing of the workout to get the best workout possible. They also discuss in the book that jumping rope will help you be better at any sport because of the many benefits:

  • Explosive Power
  • Muscular Endurance
  • Balance
  • Cardiovascular fitness
  • Coordination

As you can see, the book offers many reasons why jumping rope can help you as an athlete and improve your overall health and fitness abilities. The book also includes many workouts and different jumps that work different parts of the body. If you’re interested in working your booty off and toning up while getting an incredible cardiovascular workout in, I highly recommend giving it a try to help take your fitness and endurance to the next level.
