This week will be 7 weeks since my girls were born…and I’m officially allowed to exercise.  I gained exactly 60lbs with my twins and I’m very fortunate to have lost all but 18 lbs. But all my muscle tone has disappeared – where did my cute booty go?  And why is my belly button a total different shape?  Pregnancy has been such an interesting physical experiment. So many amazing and crazy things that a woman’s body does in order to carry a child (or children!) and then how your body continues to change in order to care for them postpartum.

As much as this transformation has been fascinating, I can’t tell you how excited I am to get back into shape.  But now I understand how moms always complain about finding the time.  Seriously, how cow sleep deprivation!  And how can you find 10 minutes to collect your thoughts let alone complete 3 sets of 25 crunches?  I’m going to have to figure out how to fit working out into my daily routine.

Since free time is so valuable, I’m going to attempt to try home video workouts.  I think I may start with some 20-30 minute type workouts and hopefully incorporate longer workouts that are able to be done in the home (or outside if nice weather!).  And I’ll let you know if I find some good ones…any suggestions out there? Luckily I live next to a park so I hope to at least get 30 minutes of walking with the girls, and check out some stroller fit type classes.

Here’s to my journey to getting back into shape and I hope that several of you can share your experiences and/or join me down this road.  I know there will be lots of ups and downs, and I want us to encourage each other so we can be fit “skinny” moms together!
