Ever wonder what the heck that big yellow squash in the produce section actually is? Well here is your answer! It is spaghetti squash, a variety of summer and winter squash (it is available year round). It gets it’s name from the fact that after it is cooked, the inside flesh pulls out into spaghetti like strands.

Two things you have to remember when you try your first spaghetti squash recipe: first, it tastes like squash and second, it does not taste like spaghetti. If you go in expecting it to be spaghetti you are going to either be pleasantly surprised or sadly disappointed. Spaghetti squash is a tasty treat full of vitamins and minerals.
