When my husband and I decided to start a family I did what a lot of women do: cut out alcohol and caffeine, lowered the intensity of my workouts, ate foods that are supposed to help with conception like pineapple and coconut water, you know…nothing crazy!!  🙂

When I was 6 months being caffeine-free and about 10 weeks pregnant, I was visibly exhausted at a volunteer function making floral arrangements for an upcoming event.  My friend took one look at me and said “Oh my God! Just drink a cup of coffee already!  It’s not gonna hurt the baby.”  And she handed me a pack of Stabucks VIA Ready Brew Coffee to take home with me.

I did know that you are allowed 8oz of caffeine a day while pregnant, but of course I was trying to be super woman and cut it all out.  But the VIA was exactly 8oz of instant coffee and it was vanilla flavor… so I had to try it.

It was the nectar of the gods.

Sometimes you just need that extra kick in the morning.  And so far this pregnancy, I didn’t need it often.  But what’s great about these little packets is the fact I don’t have to go mess with my coffee maker.  Just heat up 8oz of water (or milk) and add to the coffee packet in my favorite mug.  It tastes just like a fresh cup from Starbucks, and you don’t have to wait in line.

And it seems that several of Starbucks customers agree because they have launched several varieties of VIA ranging from Italian Roast, Mocha, Decaffeinated, Iced Coffee and more.

You can purchase single packets or a whole pack at your local Starbucks store or online. Enjoy!
