Let’s get it started!

I am so excited about participating in the Skinnymom.com weight loss challenge. I don’t know about you, but after both my deliveries, my weight didn’t “just fall off”. When I got pregnant with my twins (Kayleigh and Kameron 9), I weighed 165 lbs. When I delivered in 2001, I tipped the scale at 228 lbs. Over the next 3 years, I would lose a few pounds only to gain them back. I did this for several years until in 2004, I went to New York on vacation. When I saw the pictures, I knew I had to do something. I joined a gym, hired a personal trainer, and changed my eating habits. I would take my food with me everywhere I went and would spend 2 hours a day (or more) in the gym. When I started working out I was 200 lbs and lost 50 lbs. In 2006, I started taking steroid injections for a pinched nerve in my foot. Within a very short time I gained 30 lbs. I stopped getting the injections, however the damage had been done. I started losing weight and was on a roll until I became pregnant with my daughter Kendall (3). I think I was about 180-185 lbs. at that time. When I delivered, I weighed as much as 242 lbs. I have tried so many different things over the years to lose the weight: Phentermine (diet pills), Quick Weight Loss Center, fad diets and drinks and for a while they would work. But eventually, I put some of the weight back on. I know that the only way to get the weight off and keep it off is to put in the work and make it a lifestyle change. I will eat clean for a while, exercise consistently and once I lose some weight, I will slack off and treat myself to some of the foods that I like. Before I know it, I am completely off plan again.

I really hope this challenge will give me the accountability and assistance I need to complete this challenge and succeed. I have reached the point where I will do what I have to do in order to lose the weight. I want to be able to play with my children instead of watching them from the sidelines. I want to be attractive to my husband and I want to like what I see when I look in the mirror. I want to be a role model to my children and others in my family.

I am starting this challenge weighing 210 lbs. I am ending this challenge weighing….. Well stay tuned to find out.

Stay tuned and make sure to follow my blog. I would love the extra support!
