Whether we need a push to run faster, work harder, eat smarter or just get off the couch, reading a motivational quote has the power to get us moving like nothing else can. They are often posted to our refrigerators, written on our mirrors, saved as our laptop backgrounds or plastered to our desks with sticky notes, and for good reason. Quotes can turn a bad day around or inspire you to achieve great things. Looking for a new phrase to get you motivated? Here are some of our Resident Moms’ favorite quotes that they look to for inspiration.

“‘Never, never, never give up.’ (Winston Churchill) This applies to almost everything in my daily life! From workouts, to family harmony, projects at home or work. I remember my daughter is watching and I want her to see me determined to never give up! Victory can be won!” — Susan Jumonville

“If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.” — Melissa Koester

“‘Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.’ (Earl Nightingale) This quote slapped me in the face the first time I read it. It truly motivates me to keep on truckin’ with my fitness/wellness goals, as well as my personal and career goals. It’s easy to get discouraged by the amount of time something may take, but when you remember that the time will pass whether you achieve your goal or not, it really makes you realize that it’s better to work toward that goal during the time versus stagnating.” — Danielle Faust

“‘Dreams don’t work unless you do.’ Every day…” — Rachel Tipton

“‘When you know YOUR WORTH, no one can make you feel worthless.’ I had to put myself in check not too long ago and this is the quote that I look to daily. It helps to remind me I am an intelligent, loving, caring, giving, devoted, kind, good hearted, sincere woman who is adored by her husband and children. They know my worth and help to remind me every day of it! I will not let the opinions of others bring me down. I know my worth, I know who I am and I LOVE ME!” — Raye Dopson

“‘If you are what you eat, then I only want to eat the good stuff.’ – (Remy from Ratatouille) It’s one of my favorites and always make me think about whether what I’m putting in my mouth is making me the healthiest me.” — Lena Lawson

“On the days when I feel the least motivated to hit the gym, I try to remember the quote I once heard Jennifer Hudson say while talking to Oprah: ‘Somewhere, someone who is busier than you is on a treadmill.’ This is a great reminder that we all have 24 hours in each day. Be one that chooses to schedule an appointment with the treadmill rather than one who makes excuses as to why you don’t have the same 24 hours in your day as the rest of the world does.” — Leslie Guzinski

“It never gets easier, you just get stronger!” — Jordan Weaver

“‘If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.’ (Maya Angelou) Whether I’m frustrated by a lack of fitness progress, dealing with a tough situation at work, or simply run down from the stresses of daily life, this quote reminds me to take charge of the challenges I can control and to react appropriately to the ones I can’t. An attitude adjustment can turn everything around!” — Jessica Cheek

“‘There will be haters, doubters, nonbelievers, and then there will be you, proving them wrong.’ As we go through our journey in life, especially with health and fitness, it is inevitable that we are going to experience negativity or feedback from others who don’t agree with what we are choosing to do. Luckily, we have two options to choose from when reacting to the naysayers and Negative Nellies. Let their words affect you, give up, quit, let them be right OR feel the emotion, let it drive your belief in yourself FORWARD, continue to DREAM BIG, go after your goals, smile… Oh, and in turn, PROVE THEM WRONG.” — Megan Robison
