I was very interested to check out Consciously Cool Chick products due to their inspired mission, promise to create positive energy through art and give back to the community. As a (very) new mom, I am eager to squeeze in exercise anywhere and any time I can. At home, yoga has been particularly helpful because I can do 20 minutes here and there for a quick workout, or take a few minutes to stretch when my back and shoulders get tight from lugging my little guy around. So I was excited to learn about Consciously Cool Chick and have the opportunity to try one of the company’s yoga mat/towel combo.
I was a bit skeptical when I first unrolled the mat due to its weight alone. This mat is quite a bit more heavy duty and hefty in comparison to my standard mats. However, after reading the enclosed guide, I realized the product was created with a hot yoga practice in mind, so it’s not necessarily a mat one would tote around for everyday Namaste. After following the instructions to dampen the mat a bit before practicing, the grip improved, but the mat would have definitely been too slippery to practice on without this extra step.

I loved the positive affirmations printed on the mat, especially for an energizing quick-flow series. Each phrase is a great reminder of why we practice yoga, and what we desire to accomplish through the movements. Words like “worthy,” “peace” and “balance” were perfect for helping me set an intention for my practice and keeping me motivated throughout.
Overall, I think this is a fun product and well-intentioned cause, as a dollar from each purchase goes to support the needs of those affected by breast cancer. While I prefer the softness and stickiness of a standard mat for a moderate home practice, I recommend the Consciously Cool Chick mat for a sweaty yoga session or heated class.
