It is true that being a mom is a full-time job in itself, so it is no wonder why so many moms say the biggest reason they don’t work out is because they just can’t find the time. While some activities might not seem as structured as going to a gym for a solid 45 minutes, there are a lot of ways you can find time to workout.
Jogging is a great form of exercise that is relatively in expensive and can be done pretty much anywhere, even in your neighborhood. For a more convenient way to jog, purchase a jogging stroller that is made for this purpose exactly. You might also want to consider investing in a treadmill machine for your home.
Purchase a bike with a child seat attached to the back or a stroller that can be hauled behind a bike. Not only will your child have a blast, but you’ll be blasting extra calories by hauling the extra weight!
Workout at Work
If you’re working outside of home, bring a pair of sneakers to work and take twenty minutes to walk on your lunch break if you can. Try to get some coworkers to join you or try to start up a walk at work club. You can also do a number of ab and arm exercises at your desk throughout the day.
Break it Up
If you can’t find a good solid 30 minute time block to get in a quality workout, try finding two fifteen minute blocks or three ten minute blocks. During these workouts be sure to ramp up the intensity to get comparable results.
Set aside 30 minutes to an hour at least 3 days a week that you can spend playing outdoors with your family. Activities like freeze tag, obstacle races, swimming, tag football and tree climbing an can really burn a lot of calories.
If it is difficult for you to get out of the house long enough for a quality work out, try work out videos. There are a lot of great calorie blasting workouts made specifically more moms. You can purchase them, or view free videos on YouTube as well as check them out for free from your local library.
Do some research to find local clubs that cater to moms and fitness. There are national chapter of Stroller Strides, Baby Boot Camp and Stroller Fit clubs in lots of cities. These clubs allow you to get exercise, spend quality time with your baby and meet other moms.
