With all the hustle and bustle that the life of a mom brings, wouldn’t it be nice to have a “timeout?” Kids are put in timeout, and to be honest there are times when I think it would be so nice to have the roles reversed. According to She Knows, women are found to be less happy because of stress. It appears the obvious answer is to reduce stress, but as a mom that can be hard to do. Where do you find the time? How do you fit it into your already busy schedule? Taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of your family. You help set the tone/mood for your family… make sure it is a positive one. Try to schedule time to spend on you but if you can’t, here are some creative ways you can give yourself a little “timeout.”

Use Your Shower/Bath Time: Make it extra special by buying that body wash or that bubble bath you’ve really been wanting.

Get Up Early: Whether it be 15 minutes to an hour earlier than your kids wake up, use that time to spend doing something YOU enjoy.

Stay Up Late: If waking up early isn’t your thing, maybe stay up late after your kids have gone to bed to do something that you enjoy.

Workout: Many gyms have a Child Watch Program so you can drop your kids off, get a little alone time and get healthy!

Use Your Lunch Hour: For those working moms, using your lunch hour might be the only way you can sneak in a little time to do something you enjoy.

Take The Night Off: Pick one night that you do not do any chores and just spend that evening doing something you enjoy.

Find a Sitter: Find a sitter/family member that will watch your children so that you and your spouse or you and your girlfriends can go out and enjoy the evening together.
