Many people have a huge sweet tooth, myself included! I thoroughly enjoy indulging in some delicious chocolate, a great cookie or some ice cream. While there is nothing wrong with indulging every once in awhile, it is nice to have some ideas on how to satisfy that sweet tooth craving with something a bit healthier on a daily basis.
Stay hydrated. Our bodies are mostly water and staying hydrated helps keep cravings down and leaves us feeling our best.
Make sure you are eating a balanced diet. Lacking in certain vitamins will result in more cravings. Making sure you are eating a healthy, balanced diet will help cut down on cravings.
Eat quality food. Foods loaded with additives, preservatives, artificial flavorings and artificial sweeteners have been shown to result in the need for more sweets. Eating quality, whole foods will help satisfy our sweet tooth. I have also found that when I do indulge in a sweet such as a candy bar, it is not as satisfying nor does it taste as good as indulging in quality chocolate, a homemade treat or ice cream free of additives. Go for the real thing and you will satisfy your sweet tooth much quicker!

Set a time to indulge. Throughout the week, try eating Greek yogurt instead of ice cream and fruit instead of other sweets and then choose to indulge once on the weekends. You may also find that cutting back on sweets throughout the week results in craving them less all the time!
Figure out why you are craving sweets. Sometimes you just want sweets. Other times you may be stressed or tired. Taking note on why you are craving sweets may help in you being able to satisfy the feeling of needing something sweet in a different way. Trying yoga, taking a walk or relaxing in some way may be enough to curb the craving.
Don’t say no. We always want what we can’t have. Don’t be afraid to indulge in your cravings every once in awhile. Just be sure to enjoy it!
Following these tips has really helped me in satisfying my sweet tooth and keeping crazy cravings at bay. If I am really craving something, I indulge! Everything in moderation and eating quality sweets is the best approach to satisfying my sweet tooth.
