With school almost out and summer just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to create a Summer ACTIVity Jar with the kids. It will be a great way to deal with those “Mom, I’m bored” days.

The kids and I sat down and brainstormed “active” activities to do over the summer months. The list was huge and full of fun ways to keep everyone “actively” moving their bodies.  We wrote each idea on a separate piece of paper and placed them in a jar. Each day we will draw from the jar and do the activity on the paper.

Here are some ideas we came up with–but really, the possibilities are endless!

  • bowling
  • kite flying
  • scavenger hunt
  • basketball
  • tag
  • street hockey
  • family hike
  • swimming
  • bike ride
  • nature walk
  • kayaking
  • hop scotch
  • indoor rock climbing
  • horse back riding
  • rollerblading
  • tennis
  • mini golf
  • baseball
  • geocaching
  • skipping

Has your family made something similar to the Summer ACTIVity Jar? What was on your list? Would love to hear from you!
