You can’t hate the idea of free candy… but you can when your little ones bring it home in abundance, tempting you. So, what candy selection has the least amount of calories and sugar? What can you say “yes” to without feeling the guilt? Thanks to Fitness Magazine and Reader’s Digest, here’s a compiled, handy list of those candies you don’t have to say no to.
Dark chocolate: The darker the better! Dark chocolate contains antioxidants that are good for your body. Hershey’s Dark Miniatures are a great choice.
Chocolate with nuts: Nuts contain healthy fats and protein. Try Dove’s Silky Smooth Almond Milk Chocolate Bar.
Want something chewy? Avoid caramels which are loaded with sugar and saturated fats. Go for something like a Now and Later. A serving size for Now and Later? Nine pieces (jackpot).
Hard candies: The majority of hard candies are purely sugar; however, practice wise portion control and a few are fine. They take longer to eat and will still satisfy that sweet tooth with just a few. Jolly Ranchers are a decent choice.
Fun size portions: 3 Musketeers take the cake with less calories and fat than other chocolate bars.

Two other things to keep in mind:
- Avoid white chocolate. White chocolate only contains cocoa butter, and not the good stuff found in pure cocoa.
- Tootsie Rolls contain 50 calories each. Those tiny things aren’t worth all those calories!
As with anything, moderation is key. Keep up that will power to say “no.” You’ll be glad you did.
