First of all, have you checked out everything on Skinny Mom? I mean everything (like my tabata workouts for instance). There are tons of workouts (as well as nutrition which we all know is even more important than exercise when it comes to keeping trim) and they’re all FREE, so what the heck are you waiting for? Get crackin’ and get skinny. OK, so after a touch of shameless self-promotion, I’m ready to give you some more ideas, here we go.
Online programs. There is honestly an online program for every budget under the sun, so regardless of your disposable income you can absolutely find something that works for you. Word to the wise, pretty much everyone and their mother has an online program out there, so do your homework before you commit. I have personally worked with Cathy Savage Fitness and JC Fit, check them out, they’re awesome.
Online couponing. Yes, yes, yes, Groupon and its doppelgangers (side note, how fantastic is the word doppleganger) have been deemed the food stamps of the middle class, and they’ve been accused of really sticking it to small businesses, but if you keep your eyes peeled, there are some really great deals out there. But please be realistic! I don’t care if it sounds like the worlds greatest bargain, are you seriously going to drive an hour to take a cardio strip pil-oxing class? I doubt it; so make sure you’ll actually use the deals you buy (says the gal who has had at least 3 online coupons expire before she used them).
Magazines. I love Oxygen and Hers Muscle & Fitness magazines! Each issue is chock full of workout ideas (both weights and cardio) for your entire body, as well as nutritional information, recipes, and serious motivation. For instance the current issue of Oxygen has a killer total body workout as well as an intense arm workout. And most of both magazine’s content is available online, for free people! Just visit the websites at the beginning of the month and plan your workouts.
Family and friends. Everyone probably knows at least one person with a physique you admire, so ask them how they do it! Don’t be shy, I’m sure they won’t mind, and for the record if they do mind they’re kind of a big B and you shouldn’t even be friends with them. I like to think I’m pretty quick to help out anyone that asks. I’ve learned you can lead a friend to the gym but you can’t make them sprint, though that’s probably another blog for another day.
Pinterest. I have a confession to make; I am a full-blown Pinterest addict. If you ever see me staring intently at my phone, odds are I’m on pinterest. Where am I going with this? Well there is a crap-ton of fitness stuff on Pinterest and I encourage you to fall down the Pinterest rabbit hole. On the way down, you’ll find all sorts of workouts, from beginner running plans to yoga poses to butt workouts. And while you’re there, check out some clean eating recipes and give those a try.
The Library. Can you believe they still have libraries? Seriously you can find almost any cookbook, exercise guide, trainer tell all, and even workout videos at the local library. And guess what? If they don’t have it they will actually call other libraries to find it for you, who knew? Oh and they probably have all sorts of fitness rags too, so kick it old school and check out the library.
I’ve just scratched the surface here people, where there’s a will there’s a way, and I’m sure if you put your thinking cap on you can come up with a bunch more ways to workout on the cheap. Check your local community, city/town, or state websites and see what they’ve got going on, I bet you can find some more cheap to free stuff there. Take a little time and dig around to see what you can find, you’ve got nothing to lose, except for your bum.
