From retro “rockerbilly” to hippie (or hipster) chic, bandanas are a fantastic spring accessory for any style. We created three looks based on three very different styles. The bandana print is also a light pattern for a simple scarf as well. Each look either has a link to DIY instructions on how to style your hair or a place to order the headband.

Casual Mixed Prints with a Bandana Headband: These are so fabulous because they are pre-made. Check out the ones here at byRoxi’s Etsy shop. For this look, a simple pony tail would look cute. It’s okay to mix prints so long as they are balanced and in the same color scheme: one small, one large, etc. Streamline the rest of the look: Toms shoes (no print), metal jewelry and denim shorts. Modern Day Rosie: I refer to this one as the Modern Day Rosie because of the bandana style. The tie or bow at the top is extremely retro and lends itself to a rockabilly look. Here’s a fabulous tutorial from Keiko Lynn on how to rock the messy bun. Click here to learn how to tie your bandana into a headband. As for the look: to mainstream the vintage vibe we chose a floral dress with a retro neckline and cut on a modern fabric (especially with the elastic waistband). Get the Polyvore look here.

Boho Bow: Again this is a pre made bandana. Wear the side bow bandana with loose waves. Check out this tutorial for 4 step soft waves here. Channeling a hippie chic vibe, we chose flared jeans and crochet accents for the outfit. The silky kaftan has great lace details that really pull in the gypsy look. Mix textures and jewelry to drive this look home! Get the Polyvore outfit here
