Pick a state, any state, and you’re sure to find an eating challenge that rivals anything you’ve ever seen on Travel Channel’s Man v. Food. Challenges range from eating as much as you possibly can in a short amount of time, to trying not to throw in the towel on the country’s spiciest treat. Here are five of the craziest eating challenges cited cross-country:
The Adam Emmenecker Challenge: You have just 15 minutes to eat a sandwich that consists of a spicy pickle atop a bun piled high with pork tenderloin, buffalo chicken tenders, white cheddar sauce, fried cheese cubes, Texas brisket, applewood smoked bacon and a cheeseburger. Oh, and don’t forget the full pound of waffle fries. Warning: Many have failed…
Full o’ Bull Plater at Cowtown Diner: They say that everything is bigger in Texas, and this challenge is just one example to prove it. To win this challenge and pay $0 for a $70+ meal, you must eat a 64-ounce chicken fried steak covered in gravy. That’s not all. This entrée includes six pounds of mashed potatoes and 10 slices of Texas toast. At least you have an unlimited amount of time to finish the month’s worth of food before you are carried out on a stretcher.
The Kitchen Sink Challenge: This sundae is piled high with three bananas, eight scoops of ice cream, eight toppings, whipped cream, nuts and cherries. In order to win free ice cream for a year and a picture placed on the wall at San Francisco Creamery Co., you must eat the ENTIRE sundae including anything that spills on the tray or table, in less than 20 minutes and 37 seconds, (the current record time), and have no outside help in finishing this monstrosity.
Nascar Burrito Challenge: If Las Vegas doesn’t already pack a big enough punch, try the challenge at Nascar Café. A six-pound, 24-inch burrito of cheese, guacamole, sour cream, beans and so much more awaits the brave. If you can do it, you’ll receive unlimited rides on Sahara’s roller coaster. But I highly doubt you’ll want to ride any coasters after this one.
Davy Jones Locker Challenge: Eat 2 pounds of snow crab leg clusters, a pound of grilled jump shrimp skewers, a pound of steamed mussels, a pound of fried clam strips, a jumbo stuffed flounder, two sides of your choice and a soup or salad and you get your meal on the house from Port Royal Pub and Grille in Islip, N.Y. Only four people have every completed this challenge and we bet they aren’t seafood lovers anymore.
