On Thursday night I went to the Bengals first pre-season game. It was the first game that I have attended, since I joined the Ben-Gals cheering squad 2 years ago. So it was also the first time in two years that when I wasn’t down on the field cheering. Instead I watched from the stands like most everybody else.
I wasn’t sure how I would feel as a “fan” watching from the stands. It was definitely difficult watching the new Ben-Gals smiling and dancing their hearts out. However, as much as I wanted to be down on that field again, I remembered how much work goes into being on the team. From May to December it is non stop action. Being an NFL cheerleader is a huge time commitment.
I then started thinking about how my life has changed since I left the team. As a retired Ben-Gal, I am enjoying my time off. I am able to spend more time with my husband, cook, and focus on my career. I retired to start a family and hoped to have been very pregnant by now, but I suppose it will happen when it’s supposed to happen. I am looking forward to starting the next chapter in my life, but until that time I am relaxing and focusing on the present.
