It’s here! A brand new year! January is a popular month for working towards the New Year’s resolution. I’ve always been a fan of New Year’s resolutions and find them to be very interesting. This year, I set a resolution for myself that I have never set before. Forgoing the traditional weight loss resolution, I plan to choose healthier options when dining out at restaurants.

This may seem like a relatively easy resolution; however, I tend to relax a little more than I should when eating out. With that being said, I love the menu selection at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse. Living within a couple of miles from a BJ’s makes this restaurant an easy choice for me and my family. After hearing about the new EnLIGHTened menu options at BJ’s, I was very excited to venture over for a lunch date with my husband.

Before heading over to BJ’s, I checked out their website to view the EnLIGHTened menu. Let’s just say I was very intrigued. Items like Moroccan Spiced Salmon, Turkey Burger and even Hawaiian Mahi-Mahi all had enticing descriptions. I will admit though, I was a little worried because I can be a very picky eater, especially when eating out. That’s another reason why this New Year’s Resolution is so important to me. I want to venture out and try new things!

While my husband and I were out on our lunch date at BJ’s, I decided to go with the Cherry Chipotle Glazed Salmon. Let me just say that I wish I could have this every day! The salmon was on a bed of delicious couscous alongside asparagus spears. Another side note, asparagus is not in my top five favorite vegetables but this asparagus was so yummy that it was the first thing to go! Here’s a picture of my beautiful plate!

Now, doesn’t that look delicious? If you’re like me and want to make 2015 a healthier year, start with nutrition. There will be times when we must eat out and that’s fine! So many restaurants these days are offering healthier menu options. Throw the excuses out the window and charge forward with vigor in 2015!
