Making homemade baby food is very simple and is beneficial for yourself and your baby. When you make baby food at home you know exactly what you’re feeding your child and you can choose your own fruits, vegetables, and other items for purees. You won’t find melons or avocados in the baby food section at your local grocery store! Making your own baby food is also more economical than buying pre-packaged foods and it allows your baby to get used to eating the same food as the rest of the family, just in puree form. It may be easier to just pick up pre-packaged baby food but making baby food is quick, easy, and healthier for your baby!

Storing baby food after pureed is also very simple. Once you have a nice liquid baby food puree, let them cool if necessary and place into ice cube trays for freezing. Fill each tray as if you are filling them with water and cover with plastic wrap. After frozen you can then place the cubes into freezer bags or Tupperware containers for storage. Once it’s time to feed your baby, simply take out the number of cubes you wish, thaw and reheat. Each cube is approximately 1 ounce of food and the baby food should be used within a month of freezing.
