We all want an outfit that’s worth popping some champagne or sparkling grape juice over. But, we also want to be classy while doing it, right? Skinny Mom has picked 3 of the top NYE trends and personally designed outfit styling tips that are totally mom approved and toast worthy!

1. GlamourĀ

If you haven’t already tried one of these full sequin, sleeved dresses, I must warn you that they are HEAVY. However, they tend to work on most body shapes. Even though they are a slimmer fit, the weight of the fabric counters the body hugging material. Necklines are super important though. Most are rounded and high, so if you have bigger chest, this look is only going to emphasize their size.

Go simple but shiny with your accessories: bangles and teardrop earrings, cuff bracelets and post earrings or intricate earrings and an awesome pump. Don’t be afraid to do a color pop for a shoe if your jewelry is streamlined. We picked nude shoes just to keep attention on the dress and ride that shoe trend. However, I’m loving this bold blue color, which always looks good with yellows & mustards, reds & fuchsia purples.

For an extra sparkle, look for a pattern to the dress like the ombre effect or the chevron pattern!

2. Luxurious LifeĀ

A great black blazer and tuxedo inspired look is always in AND great for any shape. Because it’s NYE, we picked some rich fabrics instead of the basic polyester blazer. Stun people in a velvet blazer and an embellished, loose tank with a nice slim fit pant. You can also try a legging or jegging. Pair soft with hard: velvet jacket with studded leggings or sequin blazer with cotton, parachute style pants. Military or double-breasted jackets tend to add another layer of pizazz for the celebration. Another trend to pair with this look is the studded color. Now, make sure the blazer does not have it’s own color…go for one that is more tuxedo style so the collars do not over lap.

Accessorize with the same balancing tips in mind. But definitely jazz that shoe up! We went for the red as a color pop and think it is perfect for the military style. Look for booties with an extra detail like studs on the heel!

3. Pretty in Peplum

Okay ladies, this is the TREND meant for EVERYONE. Bust size and waist line don’t matter. The fabric on this style is super forgiving and the peplum’s little skirt completely hides a pooch. Mesh is also very, very “in” as is cut-out dresses. For an age appropriate look, get a glittered, mesh combination. It provides a little peekaboo factor, while also keeping it super classy.

Go for a retro look and grab a fun head band with an embellishment such as a flower, leaves…even feathers work, ladies! Keep the shoe simple and match the details. For example, we found a mesh shoe!

If you aren’t a dress or skirt girl, grab a deep purple pant and a sparkly peplum top. Pick funky, eclectic jewelry in brighter tones to complete the look. We found these awesome jade-aqua greens to play off the purples. The funky bug bracelet totally works because it has the same gemstone aesthetic. If a flat shoe is more your taste, go for a pattern! Animal prints look awesome with purple, but a flower or tribal print would work as well. Pick a style you will be comfortable in but also be bold!
