Here is a healthy twist [benefits of using ground turkey] on the Philadelphia Cheesesteak – adapted from Dainty Chef
Ingredients:
• 1 lb ground turkey
• 1 large white onion, diced
• 1 green bell pepper, diced
• 1/4 cup steak sauce
• 1 can fat free reduced sodium beef broth (approx. 2 cups)
• Salt & black pepper to taste
• 8 sandwich thins
• 8 slices reduced fat provolone cheese
Directions:
In large skillet, brown the ground turkey. Add the onion and green pepper and cook another 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables start to get tender.
Stir in the steak sauce and beef broth, season with salt and pepper, bring up to a bubble and cook about 2 minutes (Most of the liquid will have evaporated)
On a baking sheet, lay out buns – separating the tops from the bottoms. On the bottom half, spoon approx. 1/2 cup of the meat mixture and then top with 1 slice of cheese
Broil open faced sandwiches (this will just toast the top) until cheese is good and melty! Remove from oven, assemble, enjoy!
Yield: 8 servings
Serving (approx. 1/2 cup meat mixture + 1 slice of cheese ):

So glad you liked them! XO
I’m so glad they are helping you out – let me know what you think about other recipes you try!
Really delicious! Mine never absorbed the liquid, had to drain off…any ideas what I did wrong. They were still really good.
Does the nutrition info include the sandwich thin or is that separate? Thanks! Can’t wait to make this tonight.
I calculated this with the Weight Watchers app and it’s actually seven points with the nutritional information that you provided. Also when I made this it took more like 20 minutes to get the sauce to thicken up not 2 minutes. But it was delicious!
