Slow Cooker Applesauce: Tastes of Fall

Ok, so nothing screams fall to me like the smell of crisp apples, cinnamon, and a cool fall day! This being said, I believe I have found the perfect slow cooker applesauce for my family and I, and hopefully you and yours will love it too. This is ridiculously easy and soooo tasty! My girls and I have been putting it on and in everything from oatmeal to bran muffins.

Possibly the best thing about this is the fact your entire house will smell like apples and cinnamon and fall! Now, you are also very likely going to need storage containers as this does make a lot of applesauce, but it keeps in the fridge for a couple weeks and in the freezer for  about three months! Enjoy this taste of fall!

Slow Cooker Applesauce: Tastes of Fall

Ingredients

  • 8-10 apples - different varieties (I used 4 Granny Smiths, 2 Golden Delicious, 2 Red Delicious, and 2 Galas, hey, I like variety!)
  • 1/2 - 1 - Cup Cranberry Juice
  • 1/2 - Cup Brown Sugar
  • Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Mace, Mulling Spices to taste

Instructions

  1. Core, peel, and quarter your apples and then dump them into your slow cooker.
  2. Add in the cranberry juice, brown sugar, and spices. When it comes to the spices play around, it is fun to figure out what you and your family like best, the same can be said for the apple mix!
  3. Now, give it a gentle stir, pop on the lid and let is cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 7-8 hours. The apples will break down as they cook, but if you want you can use a handheld potato masher to get a more uniform consistency.
