Fall is not even here yet, but the PSL (pumpkin spice latte) is in full obsession mode for some. It’s comforting, warm, and brings back so many good memories of fall. But the one you are ordering at the coffee shop has so many unnecessary calories and way too much sugar. Of course, you can order it small, fat free and sugar free, but get rid of those chemicals and use actual pumpkin.
The only way to know exactly what is in your PSL and enjoy a clean treat is to make it yourself. I promise, it is very simple and delicious.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup pure pumpkin
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tbsp. vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
- brewed strong coffee
- stevia, to taste
Instructions
- In small saucepan over low heat, combine all ingredients except coffee and stevia.
- Whisk until heated through and mixed well.
- Pour over brewed coffee. Add stevia to taste. Top with whipped cream, if desired. Top with cinnamon.
- All pumpkin mix to cool. Refrigerate. It can be heated to make another latte or serve over cold coffee for an iced latte.
If it is still pretty warm out and your not ready to dive into the lattes yet, prepare as directed, let cool, refrigerate, add coffee and then serve over ice!

You are amazing. Thank you!
Looks and sounds delish!! Thanks for sharing!! (:
I am curious if this tastes good without the stevia. I do not like artificial sweetener. I usually do not put sugar in my coffee.
Melanie, I’m sure it would be fine since you are already used to it. A natural sugar like sucanat is another option.
How many calories per serving?
Melanie & Farrah: Stevia is NOT an “artificial” sweetener. It’s extracted from a leaf. It’s as natural as sucanat, but unlike sucanat, it is calorie-free.
I agree, Connie. There are some though that are not completely made of stevia. They have added aritificial ingredients. I like the liquid drops from SweetLeaf.
nice recipe .. i’m planning on trying it. we’ve used a few pumpkin latte light recipes at my home recently. one called for a small ‘crock pot’ and to cook on low for 5 hours. i’m hoping that with the change to almond milk it will make it more appealing. and i can ditto the above.. stevia is all natural’e
i like truvia which is stevia.. u can find it in grocery stores and i love it in lemonade but i dont use in baking.. that i use agave ( for yummy pumpkin pie) sugar always makes me want more of it! and since bed ridden now with MS (although thin all my life) i’m putting on pounds and dont want to add anymore (which sugar turns to fat) so just a forewarning to all mommies out there
