Well, I ran my first Mudathlon and had a mucking good time! With big, thick mud pits at multiple locations throughout the course and 40 obstacles, this race was my most challenging to date! After the race, I was awarded a medal and got to rinse off in a creek. I guess it was cleaner than the mud puddles. The best part about the race was the mudslide. It’s a lot like a water slide, but a huge mud puddle awaits you at the bottom. I’m instilling some mandatory terminology for the non-mudathletes.
MUDATHLON TERMINOLOGY:
Muck — A dark or black soil; mire; mud. Also a term used in place of profanities by the Mudathlon.
Mud-der — An athlete who performs well in muck, or muddy conditions.
Mud-ath-lete — An athlete who successfully completes the Mudathlon and by doing so has a Mucking Good Time.
Mud-ath-lon — A 3 to 4 mile run consisting of multiple pits of mud, challenging obstacles, and access to post-race beer. An event that is simply fun, forcing even the grouchiest of mucks to have a Mucking Good Time. Products of the Mudathlon are Mudathletes.
We should have some Skinny Mom teams start participating in these runs! www.mudathlon.com
