The Philly Color Run

On Sunday, July 8 I participated in the Color Run in Philly and it was absolutely amazing. I watched the video and heard all the hoopla but to actually experience it was a whole different story. We arrived at 6am so that we could race in the first wave which went out at 7am. The race started at about 7am. If you’re looking for a serious 5k where you can try to PR, this is not it. There were lots of families and strollers, and I’d say that 50% of people walked the race. I did a combination of running and walking because of the crowd it was impossible to keep a pace. This was the second largest Color Run to date.  Once you get to the end of the race, they do these color celebrations every 15 minutes. They count down and every one gets a chance to throw the packet of color you get at registration. You could also buy additional color if you wanted. There were a reported 22,000 participants. In waves of 2,000, we were released every 5 minutes. It was such an awesome experience and everyone had such a great time. I can’t wait to do it again next year. Check out  http://thecolorrun.com/  to see when they are in a city near you!!! Believe me you will not be disappointed :)
