Do you ever feel like a short order cook? It seems like all I get done is cooking, then cleaning the kitchen, then cooking again. During the summer, our schedule is – well, we don’t have a schedule. This means that nobody is hungry at the same time. So, in turn, I feel like I am camping out in the kitchen.
Now, I know what your thinking – just make one meal and everybody can eat it when they are ready. I would love to do this and am working my way towards that goal. But for now, I have a son that will not even look at a vegetable and two parents that are trying to eat as healthy and as clean as possible.
This summer, I have one mission when it comes to my family’s meal: to get everybody eating the same healthy meal at the same time. Like I mentioned, my hubby and I have been trying to eat healthier and by that I mean we are trying to eliminate most processed foods. How do I get my son to join us? I hear people say that if you start them young, your children will learn to love veggies. Well, too late for that! Here is my plan:
- Gradually transition my son into healthier foods by adding at least one non processed item to each of his meals.
- Only allow healthy snacks between meals.
- Stop buying processed food on an impulse.
- Stay strong!
I am not sure how this new healthy eating lifestyle will go over with my family, but I am sure going to give it my best shot.
