The weather here in Northern Kentucky has been amazing these past few days and I decided that I was no longer going to stand on the sidelines when it comes to using the grill at my house. So I did it…I finally learned how to use our outside grill and now I could kick myself for not learning sooner…it is so easy! I made a delicious recipe for Mexican Ranch Burgers and I topped the burgers with reduced-fat pepper jack cheese. The burgers took less than 20 minutes to cook and made for a perfect outdoor dinner for the family. More Skinny Grilling recipes to come, especially now that I am excited about using the grill this Summer.
Cook time: 10-15 minutes
Yield: 4 servings
Ingredients
- 1lb. extra lean ground beef (I used 93% lean ground sirloin)
- 1 packet ranch salad dressing mix
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tbsp chili powder
- optional (2 reduced-fat pepper jack cheese slices cut in half)
Instructions
- Turn outside grill on medium heat.
- In a medium size bowl, mix lean ground beef, packet of ranch salad dressing mix, and chili powder.
- Form lean ground beef into 4 (4 oz.) size patties.
- Place hamburger patties onto grill and cook for 10-15 minutes, making sure to cook both sides evenly. Avoid the temptation to over flip the patties, cook one side until done before turing the patties over.
- Optional: Top each hamburger patty with 1/2 slice of reduced-fat pepper jack cheese and serve
