Miranda Kerr began her career in modeling at the tender age of 13 after winning a modeling competition in Australia. Soon after, she began her world win romance with the fashion industry by gracing the pages of countless magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Elle and participating in campaigns for such fashion labels as L.A.M.B and Betsey Johnson. However, it was her 2006 appearance as a model on the hit show Project Runway that truly gave her the exposure she needed to reach the next level of her career.
After modeling the final collection for the show’s contestant Daniel Vosovic, Kerr landed a contract as the new face of Maybelline New York. That campaign offered her additional exposure in magazines such as Vogue and CLEO, and also landed her a spot in the video for “Number One” by Kanye West and Pharrell. Of course Kerr’s most memorable role in the fashion world is the way she wears a pair of wings on the Victoria Secret runway! Still with all of the glam that the life of a supermodel had given her, Kerr still longed for something more in her life; motherhood.
In January of 2011, that need was fulfilled when she and husband Orlando Bloom welcomed son Flynn Christopher Blanchard Copeland Bloom into the world. At this point many mothers would take some time off. Time off to regroup and certainly time off to get their body back, but Miranda was up and stomping the catwalk in no time. In fact, just two short months after giving birth, she walked for Balenciaga at the 2011 Paris Fashion Week and did a nude pictorial for Harper’s Bazaar. Eight months later, Kerr was chosen to wear the $2.5 million Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Treasure Bra at the annual televised fashion show.
So how does this little Angel maintain such a bad ass body? She works at it. Kerr practices intense yoga every day and adds in some light jogging for cardio. She also keeps her diet very clean by sticking to fruits, steamed vegetables and fish, and has been known to sprinkle her salads and spike her green tea with coconut oil, which she says is the secret to her glowing complexion and super shiny hair. In an attempt to keep everything in her life healthy, Kerr also has her own line of organic skincare products called KORA Organics. The products are all natural and contain key ingredients such as the antioxidant noni, rose hip oil, rose quartz water, vitamins A, E and C as well as macrobiotic salts. She additionally released her first book titled; Treasure Yourself, which is a collection of thoughts and lessons from Miranda as well as Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer and Louise Hay. The book’s purpose is to teach self confidence, inner-beauty and acceptance.
Miranda Kerr may be a world renowned super model, but at the heart of it all she is still just that well brought up girl from Sydney Australia. She believes that finding balance is important in every aspect of life, whether it’s your career, your family or your own personal time. She strives to be a good mother while still maintaining a lucrative career, and utilizes healthy eating, exercise and the practice of Nichiren Buddhism to maintain her mind, body and spirit. Like every mother, she has her ups and downs and her good days and bad days, but Miranda believes in never giving up and striving to do the best you can every single day!
